
Gaia
is committed to developing and implementing a production
system where there is:
a) Maintenance of the consumer’s reliance on the
food quality and safety;
b) Reduction of the harmful impact on the environment,
further preserving nature and the wildlife;
c) Reduction in the use of agricultural pesticides/herbicides;
d) Improved efficiency in the use of natural resources;
e) Assurance of a responsible attitude towards the worker’s
health and safety.
For
such, Gaia takes the following actions:
a)
Promotes an awareness among the affiliated producers of
the importance to meet the major and minor requirements
set forth by the EurepGAP Protocol;
b) Ensures the engagement by all affiliated producers
with the system;
c) Performs trainings or other actions concerning the
proper use/development of the internal controls and procedures
defined in the system documentation;
d) Provides resources for the system operation;
e) Performs internal audits at registered farms as well
as the central administration;
f) Carries out critical analyses of the Good Agricultural
Practices system.
